SONY MZ-E520 unit only.
It worked without issue with both dry cell batteries and gum batteries.
Maintenance performed: pickup lens cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, moving parts greased, MD ejection mechanism adjusted, and battery terminals cleaned. I believe you will be able to use it comfortably.
Regarding the appearance, I think it's in good condition considering the years since its release. One thing to note is a small dent on the upper right corner. I've included a picture of it, the last image.
I will disinfect it with alcohol and carefully package it before shipping.
