Covishield produced more antibodies than Covaxin, says study results

New Delhi: Covishield vaccine produced more antibodies than Covaxin, according to a preliminary study of coronavirus vaccine (COVAT) -induced antibody titre in health care workers (HCW) who received both doses of either vaccine. According to the study, antibodies in Covishield recipients were significantly higher after the first dose compared to Covaxin.

The study is a preliminary version and has not been peer-reviewed and should not be used as a guide to clinical practice. He said that both vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin, had a good response after two doses, but the seropositivity rate and mean peak antibody were significantly higher in Covishield.

“Of the 552 HCPs (325 men, 227 women), 456 and 96 received the first dose of Covishield and Covaxin, respectively. A total of 79.3% were seropositive after the first dose. The response rate and mean increase (IQR) of anti-pico antibodies were significantly higher for Covishield receptors compared to Covaxin receptors (86.8 vs. 43.8%; 61.5 vs. 6 AU / ml; both p <0.001) ”, according to the study.

The study included medical personnel who had received either Covishield or Covaxin vaccine and who either had a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection or not.
